  • Book&Café

November 4–30: Follow the Aroma of New-Season Soba in Shichikashuku

The Shichikashuku Soba Road New Soba & Autumn Harvest Stamp Rally will run from Wednesday, November 4 through Monday, November 30, 2026. The event invites visitors to enjoy local soba while discovering several tourism facilities and the character of this historic mountain town.

Rather than rushing to collect all three stamps, consider making time for the food, the town and an overnight stay in Shiroishi.

New-Season Soba with a Local Story

Shichikashuku’s official tourism site explains that soba has long been recorded as a local specialty and that today’s shops continue to develop their own styles. The new-soba season is a chance to appreciate its aroma and texture while learning about a former post town surrounded by mountain and river landscapes.

The event lasts nearly four weeks. Before choosing a travel date, check the operating days and hours of every place you plan to visit. Meal and shopping costs are paid separately at the participating businesses.

How to Collect the Three Stamps

According to the official event information, visitors can enter the prize drawing by collecting one stamp from a participating tourism facility and two stamps from participating soba restaurants. Once you have all three, place your completed entry in a drawing box at a participating location.

Choose One Tourism Facility

  • Michi-no-Eki Shichikashuku
  • Book & Cafe Korasshe
  • Shichikashuku Kurashi Kenkyujo

Choose Two Soba Restaurants

  • Nomin Sobaya Bashoan
  • Soba no Sato Ganko
  • Soba Yoshinoya

Hours vary by location. Check for regular closing days, temporary closures, sold-out items, stamp-sheet availability and any changes to the entry rules before departure and again on the day. This article does not state that reservations are unnecessary or that participation itself is free.

Leave Time to Taste, Walk and Pause

One possible plan is to visit a tourism facility in the morning, have soba at the first restaurant around lunchtime, then take a walk or a break before visiting the second restaurant. You can also split the two restaurant visits across different days.

Follow current road, weather, parking and business information. Daylight becomes shorter in late autumn, so confirm your return route in advance and allow extra time.

Stay at Shiroishi “Michi” Room Ichi

For the night before or after the event, Shiroishi “Michi” Room Ichi is one GAIA Resort option. Its official page describes a room opposite the west exit of Shiroishi-Zao Station, about a one-minute walk away, combining art and comfortable accommodation. Room Ichi accepts bookings from two guests and accommodates up to five. It includes a kitchen, separate bathroom and toilet, and free Wi-Fi.

There is no on-site parking, and guests arriving by car are directed to nearby paid parking. Check availability, rates, booking terms and parking details for your exact travel dates on the official property and booking pages. This article does not give or guarantee a travel time to Shichikashuku.

Suggested Itinerary

  • The day before: Arrive in Shiroishi and check in at Shiroishi “Michi” Room Ichi. Confirm the next day’s weather, roads and business hours.
  • Morning: Visit one of the three tourism facilities in Shichikashuku and confirm the stamp sheet and current entry instructions.
  • Midday and afternoon: Enjoy new-season soba at two participating restaurants if their hours and your appetite allow. Split the visits across days when that makes the journey more comfortable.
  • Evening: Return to Shiroishi with daylight and road conditions in mind, then reflect on the food and places encountered during the day.

This is a suggested itinerary, not an official tour or transfer service. GAIA Resort is not the organizer or co-organizer of the event.
