【本日開幕】第35回定禅寺ストリートジャズフェスティバル――仙台の街が音楽に包まれる2日間
本日2026年9月12日（土）、仙台市中心部で「第35回定禅寺ストリートジャズフェスティバル」が開幕しました。
今年のテーマは「PASSION（情熱）」。
国内外から集まった演奏者が、定禅寺通、勾当台公園、西公園、中心商店街、仙台駅周辺など約50カ所のステージで、ジャズ、ロック、民族音楽など、多彩な音楽を届けています。
ケヤキ並木の下に響く演奏に観客が手拍子を合わせ、街角では自然に踊りだす人の姿も見られるなど、杜の都・仙台の中心部が音楽の熱気に包まれました。
「PASSION」をテーマに過去最多規模の870組が出演
今年は、2日間で870組が出演する過去最多規模の開催となりました。
初日は、陸上自衛隊東北方面音楽隊が、東日本大震災の犠牲者への鎮魂と被災地の復興への願いを込め、「A（ラ）」の音を1分間奏でて開演。
定禅寺通では、マーチングバンドや仙台すずめ踊りなどによるパレードが行われ、華やかにフェスティバルの幕を開けました。
迫力あるビッグバンドから情感豊かなボーカル、金管バンド、吹奏楽まで、会場ごとに異なる音楽と出会えることが、定禅寺ストリートジャズフェスティバルの魅力です。
9月13日も約50カ所で演奏
フェスティバルは、明日9月13日（日）も開催されます。

The 35th Jozenji Streetjazz Festival Opens—Sendai Becomes a City of Music
The 35th Jozenji Streetjazz Festival opened today, Saturday, September 12, 2026, in central Sendai.
This year’s theme is “PASSION.”
Musicians from Japan and overseas are performing jazz, rock, world music, and many other genres across approximately 50 stages, including Jozenji-dori Avenue, Kotodai Park, Nishi Park, central shopping streets, and the area around Sendai Station.
Under the rows of zelkova trees, audiences clapped along, danced, and enjoyed music throughout the city.
A Record-Scale Festival with 870 Groups
A total of 870 groups—the largest number in the festival’s history—are scheduled to perform over the two-day event.
The opening day began with the Northeastern Army Band of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force playing the note “A” for one minute in remembrance of the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake and in hope for the continued recovery of the affected communities.
A parade featuring marching bands and Sendai Suzume Odori dancers then opened the festival along Jozenji-dori Avenue.
Visitors can discover a wide variety of performances, from powerful big bands and vocalists to brass bands and traditional music.
