Despite a Nationwide Decline in Hotel Stays, Travelers Continue to Choose Meaningful Experiences at GAIA Resort

観光庁が2026年7月31日に公表した「宿泊旅行統計調査（2026年5月第2次速報・6月第1次速報）」によると、全国の宿泊需要は前年を下回る結果となりました。2026年5月の延べ宿泊者数は5,429万人泊（前年同月比▲3.2％）、6月は4,678万人泊（前年同月比▲6.5％）となり、日本人・外国人ともに宿泊者数が減少しています。また、客室稼働率も5月61.0％、6月56.2％となりました。なお、2026年からは統計の集計方法が変更されているため、前年との単純比較には一定の留意が必要とされています。

According to the Japan Tourism Agency’s Accommodation Travel Statistics released on July 31, 2026, nationwide hotel demand declined compared with the previous year. Total overnight stays reached 54.29 million in May (-3.2% year-on-year) and 46.78 million in June (-6.5%). Both domestic and international overnight stays decreased, while nationwide hotel occupancy rates were 61.0% in May and 56.2% in June. The agency also notes that statistical methodology changed in 2026, so year-on-year comparisons should be interpreted with caution.
